Black Bear Stand Off



Hello! I am a 16-year-old Lowa fan from Southcentral Alaska.

I took these fantastic Lowa boots on my 30 mile backpacking Black Bear hunt this week and they were spectacular. I'm currently breaking them in for a Dall Sheep hunt this coming August.


During this hunt, I had to fend off a charging/aggressive mama Black Bear in the middle of the night. It was an intense 30 minute standoff, which eventually resulted in my slow retreat back to my campsite.

'Round the World in my LOWA Boots

I've been on 6 continents and in more than 25 countries for both business and pleasure.


My job as a Marketing Manager at Cisco Systems takes me places. And, so do my Lowa Renegades.


I'm also a professional photographer and avid traveler.


My trips have taken me from the Amazon Jungle to the Great Wall of China. From Botswana to the Galapagos Islands. Through the streets of Sydney, Prague and more.


Wherever I go, I'm carrying a camera and wearing my Lowa Renegades.

From the moment I laced them up, they fit perfectly. I've used them for backpacking, hiking, and simple city walking. Together, we've endured floods, mud, baking heat, and freezing cold.


On many of my trips I traveled alone, so I used my Renegades as the subject in my photos. After the first shot at the Great Wall in China, I decided to continue the series and shoot my boots wherever we went.

Zephyr Deserts in Afghanistan

Dear LOWA;

I purchased a pair of Lowa Zephyr Desert boots when I learned my unit was going to Afghanistan.

After walking over 450 kilometers through the rugged terrain consisting of rock, wadi lines that soaked our boots daily, and desert with thorny bushes, I discovered that my boots had finally started to wear out.

They lasted longer than other boots I have owned and I plan to get another pair soon.

Even though they are rotting from constant immersion in mud and water they are still comfortable.
