Mountains Are My Therapy

It's quite special when someone tells me that my White Mountain hiking journeys have inspired them to make a change in their life.

The first time I ever tried to climb a mountain, I lasted 15 minutes before having a panic attack and turning around because I couldn't breathe.

I was 32 lbs heavier, unhealthy as all hell and drank way too much. Back in September, after having been sober for 8 months and a few lbs lighter, I climbed my first 4,000 ft mountain in NH and I was immediately hooked.

21 mountains later, I'm planning my next winter hike for this weekend! Just make a couple small changes over time and they'll quickly add up into a rewarding gift. I've still a long way to go, but the journey is what life is all about. Mountains are my therapy and in a way, saved my life.
