Rim to Rim

Just loving my Lowas. After a Rim to River day at the Grand Canyon, my feet still felt great and the next leg of our adventure found me exploring cave dwellings in Sedona.

Celebrating my 40th B-day -- can I possibly be this old with feet that feel so young?!?

Thank you, Lowa - you have treated me very well!

Backpacking to Indian Garden

I've worn my Renegades for the past several years hiking in the High Uintas in Utah to Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef.

In 2013, I took my family to the Grand Canyon. During that trip my then 9 year old son and I hiked down the Bright Angel to Plateau Point and back. He got the bug to go again so in 2014 he and I backpacked down spending 2 nights at the bottom and one more at Indian Garden on the way out. This pic was taken as we were hiking from the bottom to Indian Garden.

This year we are hoping for a permit that will allow us to go rim-to-rim. My boots have never failed me.

14 Years of Loyal Service

Nothing too exciting, just a thanks.

I bought my boots in 2001 for a long hike. As a student at the time, they were the most expensive clothing purchase I ever had made and I treasured them. Since then, they have section hiked 150 miles of the AT, gone up and down Mt. Washington (twice), and generally endured each of the 4 seasons hiking, up and down the east coast.

They have been my preferred walking shoes on trips to Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, through cities, deserts, and rainforests. They have visited 43 U.S. States. They have seen Wonders of the World.

Almost every photo of me on vacation (other than the beach, let's not get too crazy) shows me in my Lowas.

Recently in older age they have semi-retired, serving as my preferred snow boots to shovel and play with my kids, with an occasional trek to the Shenandoahs. The sole was worn, the seams pulled a little, but they still worked. Today, in our first snowfall of the winter, I put on my old friends and sadly noticed that the heel had gone out.

Thank you for 14 years of loyal service. I think I got my money's worth. Time for a new pair.

Every Step of the Way

Since I was young I've spent a great deal of time thinking about all the places I can go and wish to go.

I prefer going by bike, by ski, or by foot as it allows me to get away from the technological age and enjoy some nature therapy.

My Lowa Renegades have hiked many miles in Maine, been to the top of Katahdin twice this past year and carried me into Acadia National Park amidst it's shut down last year.

They have carried me through the White Mountains, on a trip through Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Utah.

Accompanied me during my daily tasks of going to school and enjoying my days.

I know that my Renegades will always get me where I need to go in comfort and security.

Thank you Lowa for making such a wonderful boot.

I am excited to see what other adventures I'll have in the future and I'm sure my Lowas will be there every step of the way.

Best Times of My Life

I have had my Renegades for a number of years, and they have taken me through some of the best times of my life.

In 2013, after years of dreaming about it, I hiked the Inca Trail in Peru and took a snapshot with my boot hanging over the edge at Machu Picchu. We also went sandboarding in the desert with them.

My Renegades were with me when I married the love of my life on October 4, 2014. Some of the photo's we took on our wedding day were in pretty remote places, so I happily put on my boots and off we went! :-)

50 Years in my LOWAs!

I have a pair of Lowa boots that I purchased in 1965 from a person in Washington State. I have used them on and off over the past 50 years, and having just re-found them I will continue to use them!

I have hiked in the Olympics, in the Adirondacks, in the Appalachians, and in other places, and they have always been my faithful friends. Amazingly, they have held up, and are in fine shape.

These boots are marked "Made in West Germany", a country that no longer exists, but these boots still are fine.

Since '76

I still have - and use - the only pair of Lowas I have ever had. They were purchased to hike a CT. section of the Apalation trail in 1976!!!

Great boots.
