19 National Parks

On a recent trip visiting 19 National Parks/Monuments in the desert Southwest...

I blew out my old hiking boots and replaced them with LOWA boots from REI...

They are the best I have ever had and were comfortable from day one. I am sorry I have not been wearing them for the last 50 years. I expect to put many more miles on these boots.

A Perfect Fit, Right Out of the Box

I have maybe ten pairs of Lowa shoes and boots, mostly light hiking, which I wear day in day out, a couple of pairs of QCs for local short hauls in the Catalinas (near Tucson Arizona.)

I own a pair of Baffin Pros - too heavy duty!

The star is however your Baltoro, leather-lined, a perfect fit right out of the box, even in the forefoot area. I have been using them down the Grand Canyon and will now take them to Europe for our annual two months hiking and trekking near Chamonix and in the Dolomites.

Great boot. Thank you.
Paul R.

Thunder Storm on Chocorua

At the top of Mt. Chocorua, New Hampshire, as a thunder storm rages below us. Thanks to our LOWA boots we made it down the damp rock face and up the Bolles Trail safely.

Bandhavgarh

* This is the 7th in a series of journal posts by LOWA Field Ambassador, and pro photographer, Andy Hettinger ~ who has toured 6 continents in his LOWA Renegades. He is currently putting his boots to the test in the tiger reserves of India.

We packed up to leave the Khana National Park and began our 6-hour car ride to the Bandhavgarh Reserve. Bandhavgarh is a smaller park, in the mountains to the north, with a higher population of tigers than Kana.

We drove through rural farms and villages, where there was quite a commotion. It was Shiva’s birthday (a principal Hindu deity) so everyone, everywhere, was celebrating.

We passed through a town on a river where nearly a thousand people were singing, dancing and swimming. Brightly colored sari’s dotted the crowd. The entire nation seemed to be in a party mood!

And, then we arrived at the Samode Lodge. From the outside, it didn’t look like much.

Inside, a very different story. The common area was made of beautiful dark wood with a balcony to watch sunsets and stars. Our rooms offered views of the jungle, adding to the excitement of tomorrow's photo safari.

We were loving all of the amenities but it was the cool, inviting waters of the swimming pool made Kat's heart skip a beat.

Puss 'n Boots

I just got my first pair of Lowa boots in the mail! My cat, Harley, absolutely loves them! I'm naming this photo Puss 'n Boots! Seems that they are not just comfortable hiking boots but the box is also amazing! :)
