Exploring The Western U.S. - One Step at a Time

If packing for a week long vacation has you confused, just imagine the science that goes into six months on foot - when driving off to the store to purchase a forgotten item is out of the question.

Such were the challenges facing Charlotte and Jerome. They set out to discover America - with just their two feet and packs on their backs.

These two nature loves are fulfilling a dream by hiking the Continental Divide: a 3,100-mile trail that climbs and descends the peaks of the Rocky Mountains from Canada to Mexico.

They will be traversing some of America's most dramatic backcountry: high mountain meadows, granite peaks and high plains deserts through five different states and many unusual ecosystems.

This is Jerome's first trip of this kind and he's a little nervous. But Charlotte talked him into it and three months ago they pulled on the LOWA Tempests, strapped on their packs and began the trip of a lifetime. Last we heard, they were still in great spirits and having a ball.

Got a story?
